Why is courier so much faster than regular post mail?

Like I’m cheap so I dint really care, but whenever I ship parcels through post it takes up to 15 days. But even like fedex from international apple sent me my iPod back overnight from USA to canada and I got it the next day. So I’m just curious why does it take so long with post? Does it go around the world or simehing? Sorry about spelling I’m on my iPod.

Volume a lot more sorting and stops with the Usps,Fedex ships direct lower volume ,plus they don’t handle letters which is 95% of the usps items to sort.
