How many plastic bags are you allowed to carry on your flight?

I traveling this weekend and I’m unable to check my bag due to time constraints. I was looking online to see the carry-on regulations regarding liquids and gels, and it said that all bottles (3.4 ounces or less) of liquid items are to be carried in a quart-size plastic bag (like a zip-lock one, for example). My question is, how many plastic bags can we bring? Are we limited to only one, or can be bring multiple bags as long as they are packaged accordingly?

You are aloud one quart size bag filled with as many 3 oz containers that will fit on your carry on luggage. Usually when you go through security they have you remove this bag from your other carry on to be x-rayed separately.
